Hickey/Crotty & Purcell/Lawler Family Digging

Post by karoy » Wed Nov 11, 2015 1:51 am

Hi Everyone
I am finally heading to Co Clare to step on the grounds of my descendants and smell the air that they breathed. Hoping to collect as much information as possible and to see if any living descendants are still around the area. I have not been able to find anything of burial or information on any family members after the bottom families left.

Can people tell me about O'Briensbridge & Fahy Beg please.

My Hickey/Crotty descendants from Co Clare. Patrick Hickey son of John Hickey & Margaret McKeogh. He was born abt 1821 Fahy Beg, O'Briensbridge. Bridget Crotty daughter of James Crotty & Mary Hickey bn 1822 O 'Briensbridge. Married Killaloe and emmigrated to Australia 1849 on Ship "Una".

My Purcell family from Doonass, Co Clare. First name is John bn 1814 son of MIchael Purcell & Bridget Mahoney. He married Margaret Lawler bn 1817 Co Clare to Martin Lawler & Catherine? They came to Australia on the ship "Charles Kerr' leaving Limerick 1838. They also travelled with John's brother Michael & wife Susannah Any information on Irish family or any living relatives would be fantastic. Thank you in advance :o

Thank you for your help. My descendant owned land here and names it "Dingle Dell" wondering if that is a hint to where Patrick may have left in Clare, can anyone shed light on that please :)

If you check out the info on Fahy Beg that mcreed posted you will see that a Margaret Hickey is listed in the Griffiths Valuations (ca. 1855) and Crottys are listed next door in the townland of O'Briensbridge.
