Thomas Grady ( Victoria Cross ) Crimean War.

Post by Neil Ward » Fri Feb 26, 2010 12:16 pm

My names is Neil and Thomas Grady VC is my Great,Great Grandfather born in Galway.

I live in BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA.
I'm researching Thomas & family for our Family tree and came across
Thomas in your area between the time he was discharged from the army in
1856{as per his discharge papers) getting married in "Liverpool" UK
{1855) and departing from "Tilbury" UK for Australia as an Enrolled
Pensioner Guard on a convict ship.
The "Clare" History indicates he was a Nth.Clare soldier in World War1 and Crimean living in "Limerick" which is on
the other side of the bay???
I have info of his wife and 2 kids in "Liverpool" area and his trip to Fremantle
Australia etc. but while not in "Ireland /UK" ???
I only hope you may be of some assistance in filling the gaps??
Regards Neil Ward

Hello Neil - it looks as if it is a different Thomas Grady involved in 'North Clare Soldiers in WW 1' - as this war took place 1914 - 1918 - and your Thomas was in Australia 50 yrs. before that.
Perhaps you might find some info in Co. Galway. The 'Connacht Rangers' were actually stationed at King Hall in Boyle, Co. Roscommon.
All the best, Miriam.
