Daniel Sexton, DOB ca 1840

I would like to locate the family and place of birth of my g-g-grandfather, Daniel M. Sexton. Family lore suggests he was from County Clare, but I do not have a source for this information. The only clue I have is a marriage record from a Catholic church in the US which gives his parents as Michael Sexton and Margaret Donovan. Any info would be appreciated.
