Hello Kenneth - Doonagan is a townland/neighbourhood to the area north of the village of Mullagh - the name of the Parish is Kilmurry/Ibricken. You can log on to Census of 1911 on http://www.clarelibrary.ie - under Genealogy - and there you can put in Co. of Clare - Gallery Doonagan - and you will find John & Ellen with 9 of their children. Go to 'Household return ' - signed by John - and you will see that they have 11 children. I looked at the Tel. Directory - but there are no Gallerys in this area - but are not too far away.
To see more about this area - again go to Genealogy on http://www.clarelibrary.ie - and at bottom right hand side of page - select PARISH INDEX - then select Kilmurry/Ibricken - lots of pictures and docs. re history. The townland/neghbourhood of Coore is just 'up the road' - and has a Church and School - the main Church of the Parish is St. Mary's, Mullagh, Ennis, Co. Clare.
If I find any more info I will get back to you.
Miriam.

Hello Kenneth again - just to add to my previous posting earlier today - I forgot to tell you that you can view details of Gallery family on Census of 1901 on http://www.clarelibrary.ie - open Genealogy and select 1901 Census of 1901 - click on DED and go down to Kilrush Union Ref. 87/6 - Mullagh - Donoogan - eldest son is Denis - but I don't see Daniel - perhaps he was born after 1911 Census.
God Bless, Miriam.

Kenneth

There are Gallerys living in Miltown Malbay who are related to those Gallerys in Doonogan. His uncle Fred Gallery lived there when I was growing up. Though my family of Gallerys also lived in Doonogan we are not related at all we moved from Ennis in the late 1800s. You will see Maria Gallery in the Census in 1909 and Christopher her husband in the earlier census - a different family.

Again strangely one of my siblings now lives across the road near Miltown from the other Gallery family to whom we are not related

regards

Margaret
