Looking for information on John Shannon married to Mary Bakey. Mary was born to Thomas Bakey and Bridget O'Brien about 1861 in Kililagh. They lived on Fisherstreet. She married John Shannon in 1881 ,but I can't find names of his parents. In the 1901 census, Mary is listed as a widow, living at #2 Fisherstreet with her parents and children. Her last child was born about 1895 so somewhere between 1895 and 1901,John Shannon died. I am hoping to find John's parents and siblings.
Thanks

Hi Blondie

The civil record of the marriage of John Shannon to Mary Bakey, in 1881, shows that John's father was Michael Shannon, a Fisherman, from Fisherstreet: https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/ ... 023334.pdf, and shows that John was aged 26 then.
Looking at the Lisdoonvarna baptisms, I see the baptism of a John Shannon, of Michael Shannon and Bridget O'Connor, on 30 May 1855; sponsors: Michael Shannon, Anne Hillery. I think this must be the John who was married in 1881. The only siblings of John that I see (in the transcription) are Pat, baptised 9 Mar 1862, and Michael, baptised on 27 Dec 1865. But I imagine there must have been more. I expected to be able to find the civil record of the birth of Michael (registration of births became law in 1864), but I've failed to find it.

Hi Blondie

I think it might be Cerebritis, which, I gather, is an inflammation of the brain.
