James Cabey

I am researching a Cabey family - I believe a James Cabey came from a farming family in Ireland - perhaps Co Clare. He came over to Cardiff - not sure when - after he refused to marry a cousin, and was estranged from his father - another James. He was born around 1883/4 (aged 37 on his 1915 marriage cert) - although IGI searches coe up with 1880/1 plus an 1846 birth which could be his father.

Before I obtain a birth certificate I would like to try and find out some more info - and where he may have been born - Ennis is the likely area.

I found a James Cabey age 67 (1843/44 - so could be the father) on the 1911 census, living in Garrynagry, Killanniv. Apparently the story goes that the next son married the cousin - on this census entry there is a Thomas who married an older woman - this may link in?

I'm afraid I do not know anything else - could anyone point me in the right direction before I obtain more certificates!

Some of these families appear in two townlands. It was fairly common to have different townlands listed for different Baptisms.
