Clare Journal, Thur 27 Jan 1859: Deaths. On Wednesday, on the 19th instant, in Doughmore, in the west of this county, at the patriachal age of 100 yrs., Mr James Healy. He maintained all his faculties to the hour of his death, and all his life enjoyed uninterrupted good health.

Clare Journal, Mon 3 Jan 1859: Deaths. In Dublin, on Wednesday, 29th inst., Mary Frost, the beloved wife of P. J. Kelly, Esq., M.D. Her life was love; she now rests in the Lord.
On Saturday, the 1st instant, in the Causeway, Mr. Patrick Kenny, Excise Officer: most sincerely and deservedly regretted by all his friends and acquaintances.

Clare Journal, Mon 10 Jan 1859: Deaths. On the 3rd inst., after a lingering illness, in the prime of life, Mr. John Miniter, of Shansheamore, deeply and deservedly regretted by his numerous friends and acquainances.
On the 3rd instant, at her husband’s residence, Kilrush, the wife of Dr. Thomas O’Donnell, a lady who, in every relation of life, was esteemed and respected for her amiable, mild and charitable disposition.
On the 6th instant, at Tinerana, in this county, after a long and painful illness, Lieutenant-Colonel George Scott late 6th Bengal Cavalry.

Clare Journal, Thur 27 Jan 1859: Deaths. January 22, at the residence of his mother, 22, Waterloo-road, Dublin, in his 17th year, Bindon, second surviving son of the late Bindon Blood, Esq., of Cranaher, in this county.
At her residence, on the Mall, Ennis, this morning, Bridget, the beloved wife of Mr. Edmond Molony, deeply regretted by her family and friends.
On Tuesday, suddenly, Mr. Pat Walsh, master cooper, Mill-street, an honest man and much respected. His death was occasioned by the bursting of a blood-vessel.

Clare Journal, Mon 14 Feb 1859: Deaths. On the 7th inst., at the house of his son-in-law, Mr. D. Hardy, Jail-street, Mr. M. Hickey, at an advanced age.

Clare Journal, Mon 21 Feb 1859: Deaths. At his residence Monemore, on Thursday, 17th, John Trousdell, Esq., in the prime of Life – sincerely regretted by a large circle of friends.
On Friday, at Derha, of croup, Annie, the beloved daughter of Arthur Dunne, Esq. This interesting little child had just recovered from measles.

Clare Journal, Thur 24 Feb 1859: Deaths. On Tuesday morning, aged 60 years, the Rev. John McMahon, P.P., of Miltown. He was beloved and respected by his parishioners, to all of whom he was a faithful pastor and a kind friend. His ear was ever open to the cry of sorrow or distress, and he wept for the woe he was unable to remove.
At Killaloe, on Monday, William Louis, youngest son of Thomas Burke, M.D., L.R.C.S.C, aged one year and four months.
Of croup, aged 3 years, William, son of Joseph Brennan, postmaster, Kilrush.

Clare Journal, Mon 28 Feb 1859: Deaths. At Kilrush, in this county, John Perse Trousdale, Esq., son of the late John W. Trousdale, Esq., Comptroller of Customs Belfast.

Clare Journal, Mon 7 Mar 1859: Deaths. At the residence of her son-in-law, M. McDonnell, Esq,, Mrs R. Scott, relict of the late Richard Scott, Esq., Limerick – deeply and deservedly regretted by a numerous circle. She was endeared to all who knew her, and her career through life was distinguished by many of the sterling qualities which characterize the good and perfect christian. At 5 o’clock on Thursday morning her remains were conveyed to the final resting place, Caherconlish, county Limerick, escorted by a large number of friends. The funeral cortege was met at Edenvale by a number of friends and relatives who accompanied the funeral to Limerick.

Clare Journal, Mon 21 Mar 1859: Deaths. On the 15th inst., after a prolonged illness, bornewith Christian resignation, Denis, second son of the late Donat McMamara, Esq., of Corofin, in this county, deeply regretted by all who knew him.

Clare Journal, Thur 24 Mar 1859: Deaths. At her lodgings, in 25, Blessington-street, Dublin, after a short illness, Mrs. Tydd, widown of the late John Tydd, Esq., for many years Sub-Sheriff of this county. In her was manifest the perfection of a true Christian. She met her death triumphing in the certainty of a glorious resurrection. She was greatly respected and esteemed by all who had intimacy with her.

Clare Journal, Thur 7 Apr 1859: Deaths. On the 5th instant, at Tyredagh Castle, in this county, sincerely regretted, Letitia Jane, eldest daughter of the late Edmond Browne, Esq., of Newgrove.
At Kilkee, yesterday morning, after a few days illness of erysipelas, Jeremiah Tuite, Esq., M.D..

Clare Journal, Thur 14 Apr 1859: Deaths. On Sunday, 10th inst., at the house of her daughter, Upper Cecil-street, Limerick, after a lingering and painful illness which she bore with Christian fortitude, Ellen, relict of the late Hugh Mullen, Esq., of Ennis, in this county.
In Kilkee, Mr. John Hassett, for many years mail contractor – much regretted.
Near Kilkee, Mr. George Stapleton, lodge owner.
On Tuesday, at Clonboy, in this county, the seat of her son-in-law, Mr. Studdert, Mrs. Massy.

Clare Journal, Mon 18 Apr 1859: Deaths. In the Workhouse, at Kiladysart, aged about 40 years, Mr. Michael Kennedy. He held the situation of Master of the Workhouse for about eight years, and much regretted by the guardians who placed implicit confidence in him.

Clare Journal, Thur 21 Apr 1859: Deaths. At New York, on Tuesday, the 29th March, after a lingering illness, Elizabeth, the beloved wife of Mr. Daniel Lysaght and eldest daughter of the late Benjamin Parsons, Esq., of this town.

Clare Journal, Mon 16 May 1859: Deaths. In Mill-street, on Thursday last, of decline, at the early age of 21 years, Michael, eldest son of Mr. M. Howley. The deceased was a Student of Maynooth College, and was to have been ordained in a few months. His premature decease is a source of deep regret to his family and a large circle of friends.

Clare Journal, Thur 19 May 1859: Deaths. On yesterday, died at Clounagown, near Crusheen, Mr. Patrick O’Shaughnessy, aged 65 years, sincerely regretted by his friends and neighbours.

On Saturday, at his seat, at Ballyortia, near this town, after a long illness, and to the great affliction of a large family, Montrose Delahunty, Esq., solicitor, for many years in extensive practice in his profession. On Friday, in the prime of life, the wife of Bryan Dwyer, Esq., Grocer, Market-square, Kilrush, deeply and deservedly regretted by an affectionate husband, and interesting young family, and a large circle of friends.

Clare Journal, Thur 9 Jun 1859: Deaths. On the 6th instant, of consumption, at the residence of her father, Clonroad Cottage, Ennis, Wilhelmina, fourth daughter of Patrick Quinlivan, Esq., Inspector of National Schools. The death of this gifted and amiable young lady is a source of the deepest grief to her afficted family.

At Calcutta, Edward, second son of Ewd. Galwey, Esq., Doon House, in this county.

Clare Journal, Mon 4 Jul 1859: Deaths. At Newgrove Cottage, on the 2nd inst., Thomas Brown Burke, Esq., aged 81 years. During a long life he gained for himself the respect and good opinion of all classes. He has left behind him the character of an honest upright man.
At his house near Bearfield, in the prime of life, on yesterday, after a few days illness, Mr. Michael Arthur, leaving a widow and children to lament his loss. His death is deeply deplored by all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance.

Clare Journal, Mon 18 Jul 1859: Deaths. At Elmvale, Corofin, Mrs. Blood, relict of the late Thomas Blood, Esq., of Roxton.

Clare Journal, Thur 21 Jul 1859: Deaths. On the 17th inst., at Fortfergus, Ballynacally, the residence of W. H. Ball, Esq., D.L., after a short illness, the Hon. and Ven. Wm. O’Grady, Archdeacon of Kilmacduagh.
At Liscannor, on the 19th inst., Mr. Michael Considine, at the advanced age of 75. Mr. Considine was much esteemed by all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance, and his death is regretted by a large circle of friends.

Clare Journal, Thur 28 July 1859: Deaths. We regret to have to announce the death of Richard Scott, Esq., solicitor, which melancholy event took place on 23rd inst., at his residence Middle Gardiner-street, Dublin. Mr. Scott was of a very advanced age, and also a solicitor of long standing, being one of the oldest in the profession, and was generally esteemed and respected for his honourable conduct in public as a solicitor, and for the amiable and gentlemanly feeling that characterized his deportment in private life.
On yesterday, in Jail-street, after a lingering illness, Mr. Thos. Houraghan, aged 33 years, leaving a wife and young family to deplore his premature demise.
At Newmarket-on-Fergus, on the 25th inst., Mary Jane, daughter of Mr. John Blackwell, at the early age of 22 years, deservedly regretted.

Clare Journal, Mon 1 Aug 1859: On Friday, at his residence Summer Hill, Nenagh, the Rev. Dr. Vaughan, Roman Catholic Bishop. The Rev. Prelate was in the 69th year of his age, and the tenth of his Episcopacy. Through life he was much respected and his memory is greatly regretted by the clergy over whom he presided, as well as by the laity of all classes. He remains were interred in the burial ground attached to the Roman Catholic Chapel, at an early hour this morning.

Clare Journal, Mon 8 Aug 1859: Deaths. On Thursday morning, at his residence in George-street, at an advanced age, and after a lingering illness, which he bore with Christian resignation to the Divine will, James Banatyne, Esq., head of the mercantile firm of Bannatyne and Sons, of Limerick and Ennis, a gentleman highly esteemed by all classes, and whose death is deeply regretted by a large circle of sorrowing relatives and friends.
On Saturday morning, at his house in Jail-street, Ennis, deeply regretted by all who knew him, John Curtin, Esq., aged 65 years. Mr. Curtin was well known for a number of years as an extensive trader in Kilrush, and was highly respected for the integrity and uprightness which always characterized his dealings.

Clare Journal, Mon 15 Aug 1859: Death. On the 11th instant, rather suddenly, at his house in Church-street, in the 44th year of his age, Mr. Andrew Molony, Town Commissioner, and for many years one of the most respectable grocers and wine-merchants in our town. Mr. Molony had been in delicate health sometime previous to his death, but not of so serious a nature as to prevent him attending to his usual routine of business up to a very short period previous to his unexpected demise, or cause uneasiness to his family and friends, and therefore the unexpected fatal result has been a sad bereavement to his widow and four children, and a source of grief to all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance, by whom he was deservedly esteemed and respected for his public virtues and for his private worth.

Clare Journal, Thur 8 Sep 1859: Deaths. At Ballyvorda, on yesterday morning, after a short illness Andrew Lysaght, Esq., J.P. As an upright and impartial magistrate, and an honourable high-minded resident gentleman, he secured the esteem and respect of all, and died deservedly regretted by his numerous friends and acquaintances.

Clare Journal, Mon 26 Sep 1859: Deaths. We stop Press to record the melancholy intelligence which has just reached us, of the death of Jonas Studdert, Esq., J.P., Kilkee, at an advanced age. His loss as a kind landlord, and upright magistrate, and polished gentleman will long be deplored – Kilrush Gazette of Saturday.

Clare Journal, Thur 6 Oct 1859: Deaths. On October the 1st, deservedly regretted by all her friends and acquaintances, Miss Mary Hynes, of O’Callaghan’s Mill, in this county, after a long and tedious illness which she bore with devout resignation.
October 3rd, the Rev Mr. Reidy, of Scariff, a man whose amiability of life and upright course of conduct justly endeared him to his parishioners and the public.

Clare Journal, Thur 13 Oct 1859: Deaths. On the 7th, at his residence, Doon, in this county, Edward Galwey, Esq., J.P., in the 59th year of his age, deeply and sincerely regretted by all who knew him.

Clare Journal, Thur20 Oct 1859: Deaths. We deeply regret to have to announce the demise on this morning, at his residence, Greenpark, at an advanced age, of Captain Michael McNamara, half-pay, 60th Rifles. He was an old and most respectable inhabitant, whose highly honourable and estimable qualities gained for him the respect of a numerous acquaintance by whom he is deeply and deservedly regretted.

At Burraye Kailles, on the road between Secunderabad and Sholapore, India, on the 5th of August, on his way home to this country, Edward O’Regan, Esq., M.D., 18th Royal Irish, late of this town; deeply regretted by the officers of the regiment, who have erected a tomb to his memory.
On Sunday, at Clonmony House, in this county, in the 33rd year of her age, Ellen, relict of the late Dennis Canny, Esq. A lady universally esteemed and beloved for her many virtues.

Clare Journal, Mon 14 Nov 1859: Deaths. At Leminagh, near Newmarket-on-Fergus, after a long and protracted illness, borne with Christian fortitude and perfect resignaton, to the will of her Divine Master, Mary, daughter of Mr. Stephen Quinn, and niece to the Rev. Thomas Quinn, P.P., Inagh.
On the 12th inst., at Shannon-view, Tomgrany, Mathew Redden, Esq., to the great regret of his family and large circle of friends.

Clare Journal, Mon 12 Dec 1859: Deaths. On Friday last, in Jail-street, after a short illness, Mrs. Sexton, relict of the late Mr. P. Sexton, builder, deservedly regretted.
At Kilrush, on the 11th instant, after a lingering illness, borne with the most Christian fortitude, Mrs. Michael Kelly, sister of Lawrence Quinlivan, Esq., J.P., Limerick. The death of the above lady is sincerely and deservedly deplored by a large circle of friends.
On Friday, at his brother’s residence,Moore-street, Kilrush, Thomas, only brother of Wm. Peacoke, Esq., Cloth Merchant.
On Friday evening, at her residence, Custom-house Quay, Leadmore, Kilrush, Mrs. Parkinson, wife of Mr. George Parkinson.

Clare Journal, Thur 15 Dec 1859: Deaths. On Saturday last, at Clonmore, near Tulla, in the tenth year of his age, Charles, eldest son of James Molony, Esq., M.D. He was a young lad of great promise, and was beloved by his parents, to whom his death is a source of great affliction.
At the house of her daughter, Mr. Trousdell, Kilrush, at an advanced age, Alice, relict of the late Captain Jackson, of the Clare Militia.

Clare Journal, Thur 29 Dec 1859: Deaths. On Saturday last, in Mill-street, after a short illness, to the regret of all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance, Mr. M. Dolan, at the age of 40, leaving a desolate wife and four orphan children to mourn his premature demise.
On the 24th, in this county, of apoplexy, James Greet, Esq., 43 years old – deeply regretted by his family and friends, and first cousin of Counsellor Greett, of Cork.
