He was beloved and respected by his parishioners, to all of whom he was a faithful pastor and a kind friend. His ear was ever open to the cry of sorrow or distress, and he wept for the woe he was unable to remove.

Clare Journal, Mon 7 Mar 1859: Deaths. At the residence of her son-in-law, M. McDonnell, Esq,, Mrs R. Scott, relict of the late Richard Scott, Esq., Limerick – deeply and deservedly regretted by a numerous circle. She was endeared to all who knew her, and her career through life was distinguished by many of the sterling qualities which characterize the good and perfect christian. At 5 o’clock on Thursday morning her remains were conveyed to the final resting place, Caherconlish, county Limerick, escorted by a large number of friends. The funeral cortege was met at Edenvale by a number of friends and relatives who accompanied the funeral to Limerick.

At her lodgings, in 25, Blessington-street, Dublin, after a short illness, Mrs. Tydd, widown of the late John Tydd, Esq., for many years Sub-Sheriff of this county. In her was manifest the perfection of a true Christian. She met her death triumphing in the certainty of a glorious resurrection. She was greatly respected and esteemed by all who had intimacy with her.

At his house near Bearfield, in the prime of life, on yesterday, after a few days illness, Mr. Michael Arthur, leaving a widow and children to lament his loss. His death is deeply deplored by all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance.

At Liscannor, on the 19th inst., Mr. Michael Considine, at the advanced age of 75. Mr. Considine was much esteemed by all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance, and his death is regretted by a large circle of friends.
Clare Journal, Thur 28 July 1859: Deaths. We regret to have to announce the death of Richard Scott, Esq., solicitor, which melancholy event took place on 23rd inst., at his residence Middle Gardiner-street, Dublin. Mr. Scott was of a very advanced age, and also a solicitor of long standing, being one of the oldest in the profession, and was generally esteemed and respected for his honourable conduct in public as a solicitor, and for the amiable and gentlemanly feeling that characterized his deportment in private life.
On yesterday, in Jail-street, after a lingering illness, Mr. Thos. Houraghan, aged 33 years, leaving a wife and young family to deplore his premature demise.
At Newmarket-on-Fergus, on the 25th inst., Mary Jane, daughter of Mr. John Blackwell, at the early age of 22 years, deservedly regretted.
Clare Journal, Mon 1 Aug 1859: On Friday, at his residence Summer Hill, Nenagh, the Rev. Dr. Vaughan, Roman Catholic Bishop. The Rev. Prelate was in the 69th year of his age, and the tenth of his Episcopacy. Through life he was much respected and his memory is greatly regretted by the clergy over whom he presided, as well as by the laity of all classes. He remains were interred in the burial ground attached to the Roman Catholic Chapel, at an early hour this morning.
Clare Journal, Mon 8 Aug 1859: Deaths. On Thursday morning, at his residence in George-street, at an advanced age, and after a lingering illness, which he bore with Christian resignation to the Divine will, James Banatyne, Esq., head of the mercantile firm of Bannatyne and Sons, of Limerick and Ennis, a gentleman highly esteemed by all classes, and whose death is deeply regretted by a large circle of sorrowing relatives and friends.
On Saturday morning, at his house in Jail-street, Ennis, deeply regretted by all who knew him, John Curtin, Esq., aged 65 years. Mr. Curtin was well known for a number of years as an extensive trader in Kilrush, and was highly respected for the integrity and uprightness which always characterized his dealings.
Clare Journal, Mon 15 Aug 1859: Death. On the 11th instant, rather suddenly, at his house in Church-street, in the 44th year of his age, Mr. Andrew Molony, Town Commissioner, and for many years one of the most respectable grocers and wine-merchants in our town. Mr. Molony had been in delicate health sometime previous to his death, but not of so serious a nature as to prevent him attending to his usual routine of business up to a very short period previous to his unexpected demise, or cause uneasiness to his family and friends, and therefore the unexpected fatal result has been a sad bereavement to his widow and four children, and a source of grief to all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance, by whom he was deservedly esteemed and respected for his public virtues and for his private worth.

As an upright and impartial magistrate, and an honourable high-minded resident gentleman, he secured the esteem and respect of all, and died deservedly regretted by his numerous friends and acquaintances.
