Clare Journal, Thur 14 Jun 1855:
Franciscan Church Ennis. The Rev Mr. McLaughlin acknowledges the receipt of £21 from Mr. Denis Nihill, collected by him in Australia, from the following persons viz: Denis Nihill £4; Michael Hogan, Caherina, £2; Pat Flanary, Dromcliff, £2; Michael Stack, Ennistymon, £1; Terence McNamara, Ballyglass, £1; Timothy Carmody, £1; John Corbett, Quin, £1; John Burke, Quin, £2; Daniel Fahy, Quin, £2; Daniel Nihill, do., £2; Pat Moran, do., £1 10s; Pat Shehan, £1; Mat Sullivan, £1; Thomas Callaghan, £1; Mrs. Corbett, £1; John Moylan, £1; Pat Moylan, £1; Michael Meere, 7s 6d; W. Dugan, 7s 6d; Also from the Rev. M. Corbett, P.P. Quin, £3 0s 0d..
The amount collected adds up to more than £21 - I wonder if some of the amounts were collected afterwards from people who were parishioners of Rev. Corbett.
