It seems the meal situation had been remedied by the following Thursday:Tulla Union. Some musty meal came under the notice of the Board – the Guardians agreed to return what remained of the bad meal. Some of the boys of the house came before the Board and stated that they were “starved with the hunger” and wished to have some other food served out to them, until good meal could be booked.

SheilaTulla Union. Messrs. Bannatyne’s tenders for breadstuffs to 29th Sept. next was accepted at the following prices, viz: - Ist Flour £23 12s, 2nd Flour £21 15s, Oatmeal £17 10s, Barleymeal £12 12s, Egyptian meal £13 13s, Indian meal £13 4s. [per ton]
