Back in the pre-1920 days of profusely sentimental songs about the old country, a Dublin-born composer Victor Herbert (see biography, including a photo of him socializing with John Philip Sousa), chose County Clare as the setting for his opera "Hearts of Erin" and then presented it in a well-known NYC theatre owned by the Shubert mega-organization. This was a fairly big deal back then, although it's been buried for a long while, until I stumbled across mention online last week and dug it out. The opera name was later changed to just "Eileen." Enjoy,
