COOLAGOREE and BOUCHER PARK

Post by camellia14 » Sun Jan 13, 2019 2:41 am

I have info regarding the TUOHY family in Boucher Park (townland??) and Coolagoree ()townland) County Clare from 1810 to 1840+ Feakle parish. Any help with these locations please.

Coolagory is a townland (a subdivision of a parish) in the parish of Tomgraney: http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclar ... graney.htm.

The Tithe Applotment Book (1827) for the parish of Tomgraney shows Coolagoree and shows that Bouchiers Park is a subdivision of Coolagoree. You will note that only three farmers living in Bouchiers Park are liable for the payment of Tithes: Edm’d Tuohy, John Tuohy and Tho’s Tuohy: http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclar ... ey_tab.htm.

To see the original entry in the Tithe Applotment Books, go to: http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarc ... _00314.pdf. This decribes Bouchiers Park as “being the meadows and lands lying between the roads and river from Bouchiers park to Cooleen Bridge”, which is a bit confusing.

The Scarriff baptisms show Coolagory and Bouchier/Boucher Park as residences (the Catholic parish of Scarriff is much larger than the civil parish of Scarriff. It includes the civil parish of Moynoe and some of the civil parish of Tomgraney): http://www.ourlibrary.ca/phpbb2/viewtop ... f=1&t=6925
