Petworth House Rental
I see that the West Sussex Records office has indexed a portion of the Petworth House Collection and made it available online. It's the first cottier rental for the Wyndham estates in Co. Clare, Limerick and Tipperary, made in 1848 (PHA 4548). See http://tinyurl.com/ykakzlu and scroll down for the list.

This link used to work for me, but doesn't work now. Does anyone have an alternative, I wonder?

Doing a link to PHA 4548 at the Archive didn't produce one that worked, so I am showing the webpage where the entirety of PHA 4548 appears. The list itself is far too long to capture in screenshots and reproduce here.

Thank you so much Sharon - that worked like a dream.

Re: Petworth House Rental
Thank you for this post.
Has anyone contacted the site and requested copies of the rental agreements to see what are the specifics ?
My ancestors are listed as:
Co. Clare, Killarnan part of Doonsallagh. John O'Brien. Yearly rent: £7 11s 7d.
Co. Clare, Killarnan part of Doonsallagh. Michael and Pat O'Brien. Yearly rent: £7 12s 3d.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone that has looked at the records.
Slan,
Kevin J O'Brien

The “Times Past” column in last Friday’s Clare Champion (Sept. 23rd 2016) had this piece from 100 years ago: “Sale of West Clare Estate: Lord Leconfield’s large estate in West Clare has just been sold to the tenants, as a result of negotiations which originated with Rev. Fr. Glynn, P.P., Mullagh. The estate extends into three parishes and comprises about 330 tenancies. Negotiations were begun about two years ago and it was only on Tuesday last that they were brought to a final stage when his Lordship’s agent, Mr. G. de L. Willis, met the tenants in the Temperance Hall, Miltown Malbay.”
