further assistance with US access to Ancestry.com

Post by kbarlow » Sun Oct 21, 2018 7:01 am

Hello, am hoping someone with access to US Ancestry.com could kindly read & send details from the following Indexes:

Death Index, Massachusetts for Catherine Gesparini, died 1935
City Directories, Katherina Gasperini and Caterina Gasparini

thanks, Kerry

Kerry,

If no reply is posted by the time I go over to my local library for its Ancestry.com access, I'll do that lookup. However, just so you and others know of this separate resource, several assorted years of Boston directories appear on this academic site:
https://bcd.lib.tufts.edu/

The most recent year is 1925, so the attached listings may be of some use. Gesparini was not an included spelling.

Thanks for trying to assist, but none of these people are my Catherine (she was a Jones from Ireland) married an Adriano Gasperine/i in Scotland, then went to NY. I know she lived in NY, as her son (my grand-aunt's husband) visited many times.

I am hoping the Ancestry records are the correct ones.

In the 1930 census, there's a couple Amadio and Catherine Gasparini living in Boston with four kids - Elda, Dante, Ada, and Vittorio. It appears she immigrated 1911 or 1912. The husband's first name is not identical but somewhat close.

Thanks Kurt - don't think this is them. Catherine (nee Jones) Gasperine arrived in NY in 1890 (I have those details), stating she was single (no evidence of her children on that ship). It seems her husband Adriano (possibly changed to Andrew) had already gone to the US before her 4th child was born. Her children are: Elizabeth (born 1883); Adrian (1886), Alexander (1888), John (abt 1889), all born in either Scotland or Nth Ireland (Co Tyrone). Her son John was still visiting her until his death (swimming accident on Long Island; but he was based in London) in 1926, then I cannot find her death or any other evidence of John's siblings.

Am hoping some of those City Directories @ Ancestry.com may show her.

thanks, Kerry
