Teermaclane Rd. ?

Post by pdoherty » Sat Feb 09, 2019 7:00 pm

The Tithe Applotment Books record a Teermaclane "Townland/Street" in the civil parish of Drumcliff for a Michael McInerheny. Since there is a townland by that name in the parish of Killone, I am guessing this may have been a road in Drumcliff. Is anyone aware of such a road/street in Drumcliff? If so, would you be able to tell me in what Townland it was/is located?

Thanks so much!

Hi Paula
This confusion is due to an indexing error by the National Archives (or rather their transcriber).
If you go to the Browse page of the Tithe Applotments http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarc ... /pagestab/
Select County Clare, then Drumcliff Parish. Scroll down to the bottom and select Teermaclane Townland.
This brings up a page of names in this townland. Click on any name and you get the original record showing that Terrmaclane is correctly included in the Parish of Killone.
So the bottom line is that Teermaclane has been incorrectly indexed into Drumcliff Parish.
On the search page the NAI has instructions for reporting such errors.
