Seeking info on my great-grandparents, Cornelius O'Brien and Bridget Nash of Scarriff. They would have married about 1830. Their 6 children (Mary, Bridget, Martin, Margaret, Michael and John ) all emigrated to South Australia in the 1850s, and Bridget, when widowed, also emigrated in 1859. She died in Adelaide in 1875.
I would love to know when Cornelius died, where he is buried, what he did etc. Or anything really.

Being an East Clare descendant myself, my first inclination is to help out as requested so that we can all know more about
the families involved. However, your last sentence has me stopped in my tracks because the death of Cornelius apparently
took place after the Griffiths Valuation of 1855 was completed for your home area and yet you have not mentioned consulting that database on the Library's website. In fact you have not mentioned any of the ways in which you have tried to obtain
the requested information yourself. It is preferable that you enlist the help of others after first making the attempt yourself.
Then if you hit difficult areas, asking for assistance makes more sense. I hope we can hear more from you about that.

As Sharon suggests, do browse and search the Clare Library website at http://www.clarelibrary.ie including the tithe applotments of the parish of Feakle (1827) at http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclar ... le_tab.htm and the Griffiths valuations (approx. 1855) (http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclar ... ffitho.htm for the 'O' surnames). These two census surrogates contain numerous O'Brien references from that part of the world. They won't tell you when Cornelius died, where he is buried, what he did etc. but they might start you off.
Also, just search for the name O'Brien on the Library site. If your Cornelius was wealthy or politically active or participated in agrarian upheavals or married an heiress or died a violent death (e.g. as a victim of crime or on the scaffold) or was otherwise prominent or notorious in local affairs he might be documented there in newspaper reports or court proceedings.
