Ursuline Convent Schools In Belgium

One of my cousins attended a convent school in Belgium in about 1909.
Her father had graduated from Queen’s College in Galway and was a county surveyor.

Does anyone know if there were any particular Belgian boarding schools that were popular among the Irish Gentry at the turn of the century?

Does anyone have any experiences in requesting student information from convent schools?

Thank you!

Hi Susan, I have had success contacting the archivists at schools that still exist. It is worth googling several dioceses & contacting them to ask about schools run by that order.

Thanks Kerry!
I’ll give that a try.
In your experience, do they share student records?
Thanks again!

Hi again Susan - both the archivists I contacted gave me the details I asked for - parents names and town of residence. But the info related to the 1860s and 1890s, so could not possibly relate to any one still living. I would say each archivist would operate by the school's current policy (they probably all differ).
