Denis (Dinny) Browne

Post by Loco » Tue Oct 03, 2017 10:53 am

I am seeking information regarding a friend of my father's family in Sydney NSW in the 1930s - 1950s. This was Dinny Browne, who came from Clare and spent some time in Mountjoy Prison following the truce. He would have come to Australia some time in the 1920s.

Dinny was a friend of my grandmother, Mary Ellen Long of Tuamgraney. She was a WW1 nurse and nursed my grandfather (Jack O'Connor) in London after he was wounded on Gallipoli. Mary Ellen came out to Sydney in 1920 to marry Jack.

I estimate that Dinny was born in 1898 and is probably the same Denis Browne of Drumellihy appearing in the 1901 census. If anyone has information of Brownes still living in this area I would be pleased to hear from you.
