Ennis apothecaries, 1795

The following notice appeared in the "Ennis Chronicle" in the issue of 12th February 1795.


"We the Apothecaries Apprentices of the Town of Ennis, having taken into consideration the hardships we lie under, by attendance at all hours, paying a large Fee, and obliged at much Expense to stand an Examination after our Apprenticeships before we can follow our Profession.

RESOLVED, That we will not in future attend any Person (except real objects) for the purpose of Bleeding, Blistering, drawing Teeth, &c., unless paid for the same according to the circumstances of the patient.

RESOLVED, That we will not lend Instruments to any person practising Bleeding, that have not served a Regular Time to the Profession of an Apothecary, and that any or either of Us acting contrary to the above Regulation is to pay a Fine of 11s 4d upon Detection.
