Here attached is my transcription of Tulla marriages 1819-1846: http://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls0 ... 1/mode/1up

My entry numbers are out from those of the priest, but only by a couple.

Some letters of freedom, issued in 1828, were entered on the last page:
“Certificated for persons married in other parishes – Anno Domini 1828”:

14.02.1828: Michael Murphy of Derrynacleha to Mary Vaughan of Clouny
05.02.1828: Daniel Rogers of Fortanebeg to Mary Dologhty of Feakle.
06.02.1828: William Balton, Liscullane, to Mary Hogan, Kilinan.
11.02.1828: Daniel McNamara, Deraolk, to Anne Nugent, Feakle
12.02.1828: Miles McMahon of Glandree to Judith Quinlivan of Kilinan
??.02.1828: Thomas O’Dea of Ballouchtra
??.02.1828: John McNamara of Glandree to B Kelly of Feakle.
10.01.1830: John Staunton of Deramore to Peg Connellan of Clonlea.

A baptism was entered on May 1st, 1838 (page 50 online):
Edmond Cuneen, of Pat Cuneen and Elizabeth Keily; sponsor: Catherine Lynch.

I also sent a PM to Sheila this week, to congratulate her on starting the transcription of this enormously large collection of records. Just having the marriages is very helpful to research I have been pursuing for the past 15 years, on a group of Clare immigrants to a specific U.S. location, involving a McMahon married to a Carberry (of Co. Meath). I think a definitive answer to that McMahon's origin lies somewhere in the 6,000-plus baptisms that Sheila is now doing.

To celebrate, I am doing a Mealy/O'Malley posting of news items from this part of the county, posted separately to be more visible to family historians. Interestingly, I see in the marriages transcription that a Mealy married into the very McMahon family I have been researching, something I had not known. While my own family's connection to Tulla Parish is too ancient to be included in the parish register, I find the history of this parish to be very evocative of all that had occurred in my own family's O'Callaghan's Mills Parish, a stream of events happening out in the countryside that moved Ireland forward in its progress.

Thanks again to Sheila for her hard work and commitment to bringing these records to us.

This was mostly very difficult. There will be a large number of mistakes. I’m sure I confused Cooney, Corry, Connors, Conway, Connell and various other names beginning with “C”. Researchers will need to take that into account. And, as always, I failed to distinguish between Halloran and Hallinan. I think the priest also made guesses, especially as to first names.

I am immersed in checking these new baptismal transcriptions against all the notes I have taken over the years for families who left East Clare for the U.S. midwest area. A few of those families' descendants already know and post that they are from Glendree or Feakle. The task is to show a group emigration accounting for some of the huge decrease in population that Sheila noticed when doing these transcriptions. Attached is a news article noting that large decrease.

Again, my thanks to Sheila for tackling this tough job, and I think she is doing very well with the names. As Sheila observed, I also noted some likely mistakes by the priests when inputting names into the parish books, which just reminds us that we are all human and not computers.

Here is my transcription of Tulla marriages 1846 – 1861: http://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls0 ... 1/mode/1up.
Notice the absence of question marks. Indeed a transcription was hardly necessary, so good is the index at the end (page 141). And my entry numbers correspond with those in the index.

And here is my transcription of Tulla baptisms 1846 – 1862: http://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls0 ... 1/mode/1up
Again, the index (page 105) – plus the information the index-maker gives on variants of surnames – helped a lot. This time his index numbers and my entry numbers diverge more and more as the years go by. This is mainly because I make an entry each for twins.

Now I will go ahead with Tulla baptisms 1862 – 1881 and expect find the index (page 79) very helpful again.
