Edward MacLysaght, The Surnames of Ireland

Post by kbarlow » Wed Jul 26, 2017 2:30 am

I note Paddy's comment re the names Minogue/Mannix/Monahan. I have been trying to find a copy of the MacLysaght book in a Sydney (NSW) library, with no success. Would any kind person with a copy to hand be able to provide info on the surname "Kierce/Kierse/Kerse". One blog stated the name is not native to Clare, but that of families expelled from Ulster in 1700's. It would be really helpful to know what (if anything) MacLysaght has to say about the name.

regards, Kerry

Good news - it's online at Google Books:

Below are the entries related to Kierse.
