My gg-aunt, Catharine Maroney alias McGrath (1832-1912), was born in County Clare. Her father was Martin McGrath (1801-1896). Catharine married Patrick Maroney in Kilmacduane parish on 26 January, 1863. Their residence is listed as Dromelihy. They baptized two children in the Kilmacduane parish.

Martin, Margaret McGrath and the Maroneys emigrated to America in June 1867. Margaret is listed as a spinster on the passenger manifest. The McGraths and Maroneys successfully homesteaded farmland in Kansas in the 1870s.

I am looking for information that links Martin and Catharine in County Clare.

I have found a Martin McGrath in the Rhynagunnoght townland in the 1821 Freeholder list; a Martin McGrath as a baptismal sponsor for Catherine Nihill on 23 February 1838 in Kilkee (a strong connection exists between the McGraths and Nihills / Arthur O’Keeffes in America); a Martin McGrath evicted from a Dromelihy tenancy in 1848; and a Martin McGrath listed in the townland of Killard in the 1855 Griffith’s Valuation.

Thank you.
