A dog called Cooper

I have been taking advantage of the current free access on FindMyPast, and through their search facility located an 1836 marriage which I may never have found otherwise. This was the marriage between Edmond Murphy of Lisheen, Clondagad Parish who married Mary Nolan of Knockerra, in the parish of St Senan's (Kilrush).
Then I started going through some lists of dog licences, and discovered that one of my ancestors, namely Edmond Murphy of Innisdea, on 31 March 1860 registered his black and yellow sheepdog, which answered to the name of Cooper (perhaps he had some sort of attraction to beer barrels?).
Anyway this could give rise to a whole new area of research - i.e. favorite dog names in County Clare during the 19th Century!!
