Kilfenora and Kiltoraght marriages and baptisms
I have made a start on a transcription of the Kilfenora-Kiltoraght marriages. So far it's lovely - no spidery, or cramped, or faded handwriting - plenty of paper and ink in Kilfenora.
After the marriages I will do the baptisms - that will keep me quiet for a while!
Or is there somebody else who is already working on that?

Re: Kilfenora and Kiltoraght marriages and baptisms
I notice that this parish also includes a census taken in 1866, which includes by townland - husband, wife(maiden name) and children's names and ages. A transcription of this surely would be a most useful resource.

Fortunately I did a quick Google search and discovered that this transcription has already been done by Paddy Casey and resides on the Library website at:

Re: Kilfenora and Kiltoraght marriages and baptisms
Hi murf
That's okay. I know about the census transcribed by Paddy Casey and have often and often visited it. And it will be a great help to me as I go along - just as the Clare Roots Society transcription of the Doora-Barefield marriages was a help when I was doing the baptisms in that parish.
I got a bit of a surprise with the Kilfenora marriage records 1842 -1866. The baptism records (1836 - 1846) come first and end at page 50, so I expected that the marriage records, which follow, would account for the remaining 31 pages (or images). But they end at page 65. And the remaining 16 pages/images are the baptisms for 1847-1854. This means that Kilfenora has baptism records from 1836 right through to 1881 and is a wonderful historical document, and interesting for demographic reasons as well as everything else.
I will be submitting the marriage records very soon, in two batches: 1842 - 1866, and 1865 - 1880. Then I will get on with the baptisms.

Here is my transcription of Kilfenora-Kiltoraght marriages 1842 - 1866 (http://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls0 ... 1/mode/1up)
Kiltoraght was also called Kiltoraghty, or Kiltonarty.

Most of these records can be checked against the civil records, but, apart from a few cases, I haven't done that. The parishes of Kilfenora and Kiltoraght lay in two separate registration districts. When checking the civil records (on https://www.irishgenealogy.ie) look under Ennistymon for marriages performed in Kilfenora church, and under Corofin for marriages performed in Kiltoraght.

Here attached is my transcription of Kilfenora and Kiltoraght baptisms 1836-1854 (http://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls0 ... 1/mode/1up).
Most names were quite clear, but I found it impossible to distinguish between Canny and Carney.
Now I will start on the second batch of Kilfenora-Kiltoraght baptisms: 1854-1880.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Re: Kilfenora and Kiltoraght marriages and baptisms
I am adding my transcription of Kilfenora-Kiltoraght baptisms 1854 - 1876: http://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls0 ... 1/mode/1up
Just one important thing to note: In October 1865, Fr. John Kenny took over as parish priest and turned to a new leaf in the register to write his first baptismal record (page 55 online) - from that date forward, it is the second date - the date of baptism - that I have transcribed. This was usually very close to the date of birth.

Edited Nov. 17, 2017 to insert a column for notes. I also put "Morty Quinn" in page 19, instead of "Morty Queally" (a mistranscription).
