Mary Griffin born Clare

Post by Kerrie » Tue Dec 06, 2016 9:09 pm

Hi asking for help on details of Griffin family in Clare. Mary born in 1837 daughter of Michael and maybe Mary McCarthy. She migrated to Australia in 1855. Would like to know where the Griffin family lived details of parentage. Also any details of Mulvihill family from Milltown Clare who migrated to Australia in the 1850s. Hope someone can help.

Hi Kerrie - I have Griffy/Griffin ancestors came from near Corrofin in Co Clare to Ballarat, Vic in 1850's. If you do a search at this forum for Griffy and Griffin you will see some threads to follow. You will need to do some searching of the Tithe books and Griffiths valuations for likely family names to work out the townland/s where they lived. Sometimes the shipping records give a town as well as county location for native place.

good luck, Kerry
