Fitzpatrick, James, Publican, Prince Patrick Hotel – Eaglehawk

"In 1854 at the age of twenty, James Fitzpatrick left the family farm in Clare Ireland to immigrate to the colonies. Settling at Eaglehawk Flat he commenced puddling for gold, later building a hotel in Simpson’s Rd, which was known as the Prince Patrick.
James had married seventeen-year-old Katherine Kenevan in 1863 and they had eleven children, four of whom died in infancy. James died in 1908 age 74 years and Katherine in 1918. Five of their children are also buried in this plot."
