Today (30 June 2016) Clare County Library's Executive Librarian Maureen Comber is retiring, and I have no doubt that all forum members will congratulate Maureen on a job well done and extend best wishes for the years ahead.
Best regards Maureen

Congratulations to Maureen and Anthony for public service careers that genuinely bettered their community. Hopefully they are leaving behind a system and ethos that will be able to continue their great work.

This is indeed the end of an era. With the CLASP literature collection, the Tithe Applotments and Census transcriptions, the curating of an enormous collection of donated records, the maps with their invaluable overlays, the fully-indexed on-line collections of old photos and music, the folklore and oral history records and this forum they pioneered the digitisation of the County's history and catapulted the Library into the cyberworld to the benefit of countless Clare historians and genealogists worldwide. The Library's internet presence has become a beacon and a paradigm for other county libraries across the country. Add to that the creation and maintenance of the Library IT infrastructure and one begins to boggle at their polyvalencies.

If Maureen and Anthony are replaced their act will be an extremely difficult one to follow. The Clare community, both in the County and around the world, owe these diesels an enormous debt for all they have done for our benefit.

Thank you Maureen and Anthony.

Paddy
