Hi Murf

I’ve completed Killone – there were nothing like as many entries as I expected. Now I’m moving to Kilmacduane, which I hope to have completed by end of February.

Hi Murf

I’ve completed Kilmacduane. It was a transcription made in 1926, in very clear handwriting, so I got through it easily enough. My next cabbage leaf is Killard. Again this is a transcription and I expect to have completed it by the beginning of March.

Thanks Sheila.
You have sent me back to Kilmacduane to go over old diggings. It will be so much easier now!!!

Hi Murf

I've completed Killard and have started on Kilmurry McMahon. But now wonder if you had planned to move on to that parish after Kilfiddane.

Hi Sheila
I would say go ahead with KilMac.
Kildysart is pretty much complete now except for the accompanying documentation.
Goodness me, it was such a nightmare!!!!!!!
Hopefully I have made some sort of sense out of it.
Meanwhile Kilfiddane is coming along OK. It is a holiday by comparison. But I wasn't looking any further ahead at this stage.

Cheers

Hi Murf

You did a great job on Kildysart, even though you were put to the pin of your collar with it. Yes, you can rest on your laurels for a while now. I will go ahead with Kilmurry McMahon which is straightforward enough ... so far.

Sheila
What will you do when we get to the end of Co Clare?
Or do you plan to conquer all of Ireland?

Hi Murf

When I finish Co. Clare, I will take a good long rest on those laurels, but there’s a bit of a road to go yet. Speaking of which, can you give the link to that Kilmihil transcription you seem to be aware of, please? Just wondering if that transcription is complete - plus I would like to be able to check it when necessary.
In the meantime I'm flying along with Kilmurry McMahon.

Hi Sheila
Those Kilmihil transcripts are on the Kilmihil Community website at http://www.kilmihil-community.com/histo ... alogy.html
The genealogy section has had a bit of a revamp since I last visited.
The transcripts are incomplete in that there is no info on sponsors, witnesses, residences etc
Also there seems to be something weird happening with their sort facility.
Supposedly if you click on a column it should re-sort by that column. Instead you are greeted with "Marriage Couples" all in Chinese???
Anyway that's it.
Cheers, murf

Hi Murf

Thanks for that. It's an excellent website - that I didn't know about at all.

Hi Murf

As you know, !’ve completed Kilmurry McMahon, except for the deaths, which I will come back to soon when I decide that Kilmurry McMahon people don’t mind me trampling all over their records. In the meantime I am well into the Knockera baptisms and hope to have them ready sometime next week.

Hi Murf

I've completed Knockera baptisms and marriages, and the Kilmurry McMahon deaths will be ready tomorrow. Then it's St. Senan's which will take until early May I think - there's a lot of it. You can put my name down for it now, please.

Thanks Sheila, shall do.
Sorry for the slow reply. At present I'm operating in between down times in the OZ National Broadband Network(NBN) - don't know when they're going to iron out all the bugs!
I'm sending you a PM also

Claire Santry, of Irish Genealogy News has drawn attention to the recently released RCBL guidelines for copying/transcribing Church of Ireland parish records and headstone inscriptions.
It made me wonder if we were fully compliant with the equivalent terms of use for the Catholic Parish records.
The terms of use are detailed at https://registers.nli.ie/terms_of_use_en.pdf
Important sections are 2.1 under Scope, and 3.1 under Licence Conditions
Generally speaking the terms are less restrictive than those of the RCBL, with the Catholic Parish records being classified as NonCopyright Material made freely available under the NLI Licence.
As I understand it, all we need to do is to reference the data source and the NLI Licence under which it is issued, and also to indicate if any modifications have been made to the data.
I have now inserted a notice under the Transcriber Register and ahead of the transcript links which I think covers our obligations.
I welcome any comments or advice.
