MargaretI am looking for Edmund/Edward Murphy born County Clare about 1845, came to New South Wales, married Ellen Monaghan in 1874 NSW, died NSW 1933, parents Michael Murphy & Jane (could be Jane Hehir-I am waiting on the death certificate to confirm this). He is supposed to be related to brothersJohn Hehir (1835-1919 NSW) & Patrick Hehir (1835-1909 NSW). Ed Murphy & John Hehir are believed to have travelled together to NSW but I have not been able to locate an entry for them.
I have taken the liberty of starting a new thread because this subject is diverging from the other two threads you posted to.
Your query is most interesting to me. In Murphys of the Ballynacally Area http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclar ... /index.htm
I make mention of the family of Michael Murphy and Jane Hehir of Inisdea. The first child that I had for this couple was Anne baptised in 1847. However the parish baptism register commences in Oct 1846, so it is conceivable that they may have had other children prior to 1847.
Note that of the eight Edmund/Edward Murphys listed in the Griffiths Valuation, six of them are located in this parish. In researching this family I found a plethora of Ed Murphys and I had a Dickens of a job sorting them all out!! There are other marriage connections between the Murphys and the Hehirs in this area.
What may be another lead, or may be pure coincidence, in January 1875 Jane Murphy of Ballycorick married Matthew Monaghan of Ennis.
I shall be interested to hear details of Ed Murphy's death certificate when you receive it.
