Now confirmed: all the Irish are from County Clare

Post by Paddy Casey » Tue Mar 22, 2016 7:51 am

Many suspected and most assumed that all the Irish are/were from County Clare. This has now been confirmed. See "Earliest evidence of humans in Ireland - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-35863186".

Excellent news, worthy of note. For those who don't know Paddy's pattern of speech, the headline is "tongue in cheek" style, so he doesn't mean it literally. The discovery of such ancient remains is evidence of life on the island, of a type not isolated to the west coastal area. The presence of caves was critical to ensuring that this small piece of evidence stayed intact and available for discovery. Perhaps the headline should say, "Early humans did not avoid Clare."

In any case, this looks like cause for a celebration. Where is the involved cave, exactly ?

Thanks,
Sharon C.
