Thanks to Diane McGrath Blaser for her donation to library

My thanks to Diane McGrath Blaser for her donation to clarelibrary of ‘Persons Born in County Clare mentioned in Newspapers of the Library of Congress’(Feb. 10th 2014), which includes the death notice for a Maggie Ford - aged 20, born in Co. Clare, youngest daughter of Patrick and Catherine Ford - published in The Critic and Record, Washington D.C., on Apr. 11th, 1891. This led to the discovery of a family I’d given up on. I’d had an idea that these Fords from Kilkeedy had gone to Washington DC around 1870, where related Fords from Beagh were already working as stonecutters and stonemasons, but I could not find them in the censuses, and had thrown in the towel. But coming upon this kernel of information gave me new wind and, using familysearch.org and genealogybank, I found some records and death notices that showed that this indeed was the family I’d been looking for. Catherine Ford (Catherine Maley [O’Malley]), baptised in Kilraghtis in February 1829, died in Washington DC on September 27th, 1910.
The lesson: check every item in clarelibrary and then check again.

It is always great news to learn of a fellow "genealogist's" small successes!
Those successes are what keep some of us going!
Thanks for the encouragement! And, THANKS to the Clare Library!

Susan
