Clare and Kerry confused, again

Post by smcarberry » Sat Feb 20, 2016 12:41 pm

Just in case you haven't run across this before, it is necessary to be aware of how often a newspaper could publish wrong details, forever causing confusion for us when doing research. I have seen doubtful linking of some places in the Missing Friends publication (as shown in the online database), and obituaries are also a prime place for a relative or editor to get it wrong. Below is an outstanding example. Both the place of origin and the brother's residence are stated to be in Clare, although both of those places are actually in Co. Kerry. It is just a coincidence that there are places named Scarriff in both counties. Killorglin is only in Kerry.
