Researching Thomas Garvey and Ellen Brody Kilraghtis

Post by mha56 » Wed Dec 09, 2015 10:17 am

My great grandparents were Thomas Garvey and Ellen Brody.

They married on 23 Feb 1860 and their sponsors were Patt Garvey and Catherine.(Doora Kilraghtis Parish Records)

I have been unable to find any record of siblings/parents for either Thomas or Ellen.

Ellen died in Ballyduff on 4th Dec 1907 aged 74 so she was born about 1833.
I can't find a death certificate for Thomas but I do know that he purchased his last dog licence in 1888. In The Clare Electoral Rolls, Ennis district 1891 Thomas Garvey was recorded as an inhabitant householder in Ballyduff and according to the 1901 census Ellen was a widow.

They had five children:
Michael b1861 who didn't marry and lived in Ballyduff
John b 1863 emigrated to Australia, married and had family there
Patrick b1865 also emigrated to Australia
Daniel b1868, my grandfather, joined the R.I.C. and was stationed in Kerry/Cork
Eliza b 1871, I think she may have married Michael Clancy from Killow.

I would really appreciate any information that anyone may have about Thomas and/or Ellen

Mary
