More from the Ruan police blotter (via the Royal Cornwall Gazette - Friday 24 September 1886): The house of a farmer named James Cusack, at Ruan, near Crusheen, county Clare, was attacked between 11 and 12 o'clock at night, four revolver shots being fired into his bedroom He jumped out of bed and asked his assailants whether they meant to kill him. They replied that they would not do so then, but that he was to take warning.
