Thady Glynn of Ennis

Post by miriam » Wed Oct 14, 2015 7:35 pm

Hi, I'm looking for information on Thady Glynn who lived in Ennis in the mid 1800s. I believe he is an ancestor of mine but can find no records online to confirm this. This guy was a political figure and seems to have been a bit of a thorn in the side of the authorities at the time, I have found some reports in newspapers about him, including his committal for murder in 1864. He was a chimney sweep. I believe he was the father of my great great grandfather also called Thady but christened Timothy. This Thady, (the 2nd) was married to Ellen O'Loughlin. He was born in a place called Mount Callan but I have been unable to find his birth record.
Would anyone have any information to help. I would be most appreciative.
(I did also find a report in a newspaper of a Thady Glynn in 1824 who at the age of 95 had just become a father with his fifth wife :) This is possibly another generation back but again I can find no records.)
Thanks
Miriam
