I looked at the companion thread, mentioned above by Jimbo, “Fr Laurence Browne (d. 1909) of Darragh; PP Tubber & Doonbeg” (http://www.ourlibrary.ca/phpbb2/viewtop ... 1697&hilit), and saw that the inscription on a Browne headstone in Killone Abbey confirmed that the parents of Rev. Laurence Browne were William and Jane Browne of Darragh:
I H S | Erected | by | MARY FITZGERALD BROWNE | in memory of her beloved husband | PATRICK BROWNE | of Darragh | who died 18th Nov 1910 aged 82 | also his beloved parents | William & Jane Browne.
Patrick, who died in 1910, must be a brother of Lawrence. Mary Fitzgerald, who erected the headstone, is Patrick’s second wife. Patrick and Mary were married on 3 May 1895 in Ennis, as shown in the Ennis parish genealogy site: 3 May 1895: https://www.ennisparish.com/genealogy/ - I failed to find the civil record, which might have confirmed that Patrick's father was William. Patrick was a widower, having first married Mary Anne O’Flanagan, and Mary Fitzgerald was a widow, having first married William Henry Molony:
30 Sep 1873: Marriage of Wm. Henry Molony, Ennis, Co. Clare, aged 22, Grocer, son of Andrew Molony, deceased, Grocer, to Mary Fitzgerald, Ennis, daughter of Maurice Fitzgerald, Farmer, in St. Michael’s Church, Limerick; witnesses: Thomas Fitzgerald, Mary Fitzgerald: https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/ ... 142419.pdf.
Thomas Molony, who is living in Darragh North in 1901, is the son born to William Henry Molony and Mary Fitzgerald on 7 Aug 1877: Birth of Andrew Maurice Molony to William Henry Molony, Grocer, and Mary Fitzgerald, Church-street, Ennis: https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/ ... 097274.pdf.
In 1911, Thomas Molony and his wife Catherine (Caby), two infant sons, plus his mother, Mary Browne (aged 65), are living in Clare Town (Clareabbey DED); Thomas’ occupation: Clerk to the Sheriff of County Clare.

After all of that, the maiden name of the mother of Rev. Lawrence Browne (and of Patrick) still eludes us. All we know is that she was Jane.
The Killone parish register of baptisms 1853-1881 shows the baptism of Anne Marie of Patrick Browne and Mary Anne Flanigan, on 10 Mar 1861; sponsors: Patrick and Anne Maria Flanigan: https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls ... 3/mode/1up, and the Killone register of baptisms 1863-1880 shows the baptisms of two more of their children, Margaret Frances on 5 April 1863 (sponsors: Denis and Margaret O’Flanagan), and Laurence Alphonsus on 17 Jul 1864 (sponsors: Rev. Laurene J. Browne, and Ellen Mary McDonnell): https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls ... 6/mode/1up. Margaret's baptism is on the left hand side of the page, Laurence's on the right.
I hoped to find some baptisms of the children of William and Jane Browne in the earlier register 1834-1853 transcribed by Eric Shaw, but found none - they were probably all born before that register was opened.

While looking for something else, I came upon this short notice in The Clare Journal of 14 Feb 1859 (at the bottom of page 3):
We are glad to announce that Mr. Laurence Quinlivan, son of Mr. Michael Quinlivan, of Ballyvaughan, and brother to the Rev. Michael Quinlivan, who left this county and emigrated to America about nine years ago, has returned a few days ago in good health and succeeded in realizing and bringing home a considerable sum of money.

I think the above “Ballyvaughan” must be Ballyroughan (in Quin parish). The marriage of Lawrence Quinlivan to Margaret Hogan is referred to by Paddy Waldron in the topic “Quinlivan of Ballyroughan”: http://www.ourlibrary.ca/phpbb2/viewtop ... f=1&t=3873. Paddy says, “Fr. Michael's brother Laurence married Margaret Hogan in 1861 and she was still alive in 1901 (census, Gower North townland”. Here is the notice of the marriage in the Clare Journal of Thur 5 Dec 1861:
Marriages: At the Roman Catholic Church, Cratloe, by the Rev. Michael Quinlivan, P.P., Gower Hall, brother to the bridegroom, and assisted by the Rev. Mr. Burke, P.P., Mr. Lawrence Quinlivan, son of Michael Quinlivan, Esq., Ballyroughan, county Clare, to Margaret, third daughter of Michael Hogan, Esq., of Meahill, in the same county.
Looking at the transcription of the Quin-Clooney baptisms, I see that a son (Michael) of Lawrence Quinlivan and Margaret Hogan was baptised on 14 Oct 1866, and that a note beside the record of the baptism says that Michael married (?) Browne of Kilmacduane parish, in St. Joseph’s, Limerick, 23rd Feb. 1909. The civil record of that marriage, in 1909, gives Michael’s address as Gower Hall, Cooraclare, and gives the bride’s name as Sarah Browne.

The Clare Journal, Mon 28 Apr 1862:
Deaths: On Sunday, the 27th instant, at Ballyroughan, in this county, Michael Quinlivan, Esq. He maintained through life the character of an honest man, and died a good old age, sincerely regretted by his friends. His remains will be removed at six o’clock a.m., tomorrow, (Tuesday) to the family vault, Parteen, Co. Limerick.

Adele McDonnell has a Broadford McDonnells tree online. She says Susan (Sue McDonnell married a Harte and lived in Ca. Her Daughter Sue married J. Byrne. She sent me a handwritten tree her relatives in Broadford sent her and listed the records with which she had proven it so I am confident it is the same family

As her tree seems thorough and she has George McDonnell bro in law (her ancestor) living with Susan in a US census(references on the above tree) I would be inclined to believe she is right

I am working on adding the Quinlivans to my Kenny trees using dna to back it up. Its a big job. Thanks S Duddy for your Browne research which ties in with mine. They appear to have de Courcy descendants to this day in Limerick (Catherine de Courcy) through the Gillespies (Margaret Frances Browne)

One of Susanna Quinlivans sponsors in 1850 was Eliza Barry. I have been looking for Barrys who were related to the Kennys/Powells/Quinlivans and had a bishop of Florida mentioned in Catherine Powell Meehans obit in the Clare champion Feb 20 1937 where it says she was a cousin of the most rev Dr Barry Bishop of Florida. This is the second time that I have seen Barry sponsors at Quinlivan baptisms. If anyone could shed any light on the Barrys appreciated !!I have a clipping but dont know how to post it here

Correction to above . In 1911 it was Andrew Maurice Molony who was living in Clarecastle with his wife , sons George and Louis and mother Mary Browne
