Patrick, who died in 1910, must be a brother of Lawrence. Mary Fitzgerald, who erected the headstone, is Patrick’s second wife. Patrick and Mary were married on 3 May 1895 in Ennis, as shown in the Ennis parish genealogy site: 3 May 1895: https://www.ennisparish.com/genealogy/ - I failed to find the civil record, which might have confirmed that Patrick's father was William. Patrick was a widower, having first married Mary Anne O’Flanagan, and Mary Fitzgerald was a widow, having first married William Henry Molony:I H S | Erected | by | MARY FITZGERALD BROWNE | in memory of her beloved husband | PATRICK BROWNE | of Darragh | who died 18th Nov 1910 aged 82 | also his beloved parents | William & Jane Browne.
30 Sep 1873: Marriage of Wm. Henry Molony, Ennis, Co. Clare, aged 22, Grocer, son of Andrew Molony, deceased, Grocer, to Mary Fitzgerald, Ennis, daughter of Maurice Fitzgerald, Farmer, in St. Michael’s Church, Limerick; witnesses: Thomas Fitzgerald, Mary Fitzgerald: https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/ ... 142419.pdf.
Thomas Molony, who is living in Darragh North in 1901, is the son born to William Henry Molony and Mary Fitzgerald on 7 Aug 1877: Birth of Andrew Maurice Molony to William Henry Molony, Grocer, and Mary Fitzgerald, Church-street, Ennis: https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/ ... 097274.pdf.
In 1911, Thomas Molony and his wife Catherine (Caby), two infant sons, plus his mother, Mary Browne (aged 65), are living in Clare Town (Clareabbey DED); Thomas’ occupation: Clerk to the Sheriff of County Clare.
After all of that, the maiden name of the mother of Rev. Lawrence Browne (and of Patrick) still eludes us. All we know is that she was Jane.
The Killone parish register of baptisms 1853-1881 shows the baptism of Anne Marie of Patrick Browne and Mary Anne Flanigan, on 10 Mar 1861; sponsors: Patrick and Anne Maria Flanigan: https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls ... 3/mode/1up, and the Killone register of baptisms 1863-1880 shows the baptisms of two more of their children, Margaret Frances on 5 April 1863 (sponsors: Denis and Margaret O’Flanagan), and Laurence Alphonsus on 17 Jul 1864 (sponsors: Rev. Laurene J. Browne, and Ellen Mary McDonnell): https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls ... 6/mode/1up. Margaret's baptism is on the left hand side of the page, Laurence's on the right.
I hoped to find some baptisms of the children of William and Jane Browne in the earlier register 1834-1853 transcribed by Eric Shaw, but found none - they were probably all born before that register was opened.
