Thanks Bob, that's interesting.
Can't seem to make any connections tho.
I guess there comes a point with any ancestral line where the trail fades out.
I think I've reached that point with this one.
Thanks for your suggestions anyway.
Cheers

MURF,

RE THE NAME CAMMEL, COULD IT BE THE WERE NO SONS, ONLY DAUGHTERS ?
ANYWAY, LOOKING THRU ELLIS ISLAND ONLINE IT SEEMS THERE ARE "CAMMEL'S" FROM HOLLAND.

ALSO U MIGHT LOOK AT THIS SITE,
https://www.houseofnames.com/cammel-family-crest
IT MIGHT GIVE SOME INSIGHT OR MUDDY THE WATERS.

JOHN MAYER'S BOOK, "FAMILIES OF KILMALEY PARISH" , PAGE 430 & 431, REFERS TO THE FRAWLEY FAMILY OF LEHAKNOCK, MICHAEL & SARAH FRAWLEY. IF U ASK HIM HE MIGHT SEND U THE PAGES.

HOPE THIS HELPS IN YOUR SEARCH.

Thanks again Bob, I'll work on that.
In answer to your question, no I don't have the parents of Sarah Cammel Frawley (I don't know the Ellen you mention). The only other Cammel family members I have are Pat and Jane, sponsors to some of Sarah's children, and who I presume to be brother and sister of Sarah.
As for giving up, well I view it more as a question of priorities. I am happy that I have established that my grandmother's Frawley grandparents were Michael and Sarah Cammel Frawley of Lehaknock, and that I can trace my ancestry through their daughter Bridget to her daughter Bridget Phillips Murphy (my grandmother). I will however keep watch for any further tidbits that may turn up.

For what it's worth, I recently noticed a few transcriptions in a parish where Campbell and Cammel were interchanged. I can't remember the parish though.

My wife's maternal family were Frawley/Fraly from Lehaknock, and I am currently trying to piece together the historical generations. I'd be especially interested to contact anyone researching the same small locality. I have a private website I can share showing a lot of my conclusions.

...Sarah died at Lehaknock in 1902 ...
I was in Kilmaley old cemetery very recently, and found the grave of Michael Frawley, but cannot find that of his wife, Sarah (Cammel). She died 20/10/1902 at Lehaknock of 'Cardiac failure, undefined, no med attendant'. Occ: 'Publican's widow', age 87 (d.o.b 1815), Michael Frawley (grandson) present at death.

It seems that her birth and death are both a mystery. As for Michael, the land records hint at older generations but I cannot connect them to the older Lehaknock marriages: Maurice Frawley(1) and Joan Connolly, Maurice Frawley(2) and Mary McInerney, and John Frawley and Bridget Downes.

Anyone else here researching this local family?
