Prison Records?

Post by Blondie » Sat Dec 20, 2014 4:02 pm

I am finding several Michl (spelled like that) Carriggs listed in Irish prison records. Some give dates of birth, some not. How would one find out more about these prisoners? The one I am looking at in particular is for 1865 in prison for base coin, which I believe is counterfeiting. From what I gather, my ancestors were not upstanding citizens always,so it would not shock me.
Also,if a child were born out of wedlock, whould they still register them? Can not find any record of Margaret Carrigg,( about 1869) being born to Michael and Hannah Connor(Ann). I believe I found her sister, Susan, the following year.
Thanks very much for any assistance.

I am sure you know that Michl is just a short way of writing Michael as Edwd for Edward, Chas for Charles and Jno for John (I know why other but they did)
