Would anyone know if prefamine Cratloe was a Church of Ireland parish?
Was a Chuch of Ireland church situated there?
My reason for asking is that in 1846, the Rev. William Lewis of Killeely parish was chairman
of the Cratloe Poor Relief Committee and in correspondence with Redington at Dublin Castle.
I am asking myself if Cratloe was in fact part of Killeely parish.

1) Cratloe was not the name of a C of I Parish. There is a Catholic parish called Cratloe which covers the C of I parish of Kilfintenan & the mountainous part of the adjacent C of I parish of Kileely. The remainder of Kileely parish is in Meelick Catholic parish.
2) There was no C of I church in the Cratloe area. There were two pre-reformation churches (Croghaun & Kilfintenan) but neither was used for Protestant worship or burial. C of I members attended services in Kilfinaghty church in Sixmilebridge or Kileely church, depending on distance and preference.
3) Kilfintenan & Kileely were two separate parishes, jointly administered by the same vicar/rector; the Rev. Lewis. It's possible, that by naming the committee after Cratloe, the members were reflecting where the most need was.

Many thanks M Mc Namara. This is very useful.
I am researching events in Meelick and Coonagh during the Famine years.
