I am SO excited right now!
A fellow member of a genealogy group who lives in Ennistymon has located the crypt of my great great grandmother in the Ballyea South Cemetery.
I am including pictures she has taken of the crypt and its inscription.
Does anyone know anything about this cemetery?
I would like to contact someone to ask if anyone else is also buried within this crypt..
My great great grandfather who had erected the crypt died two years later so I wonder where he is, if not there.
The Clare Library has posted the transcriptions from this cemetery
http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclar ... ptions.htm
But only from 1942 .....
The kind woman who took these pictures said that this is a very small cemetery and only TWO graves have inscriptions, Reily & Doherty.
So ~ are there TWO separate Ballyea South Cemeteries?
Is this cemetery connected with St John the Baptist?
Why do you think a prominent resident of Ennistymon (Woodpark House) be buried at Ballyea and not in Ennistymon?
Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Re: Ballyea South Cemetery Questions
Susan
The Ballyea cemetery transcriptions on the Clare Lib site refer to the Ballyea graveyard in Killone Parish. If you check the Townlands page at http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclar ... nland1.htm you will observe there are several Ballyea's including Ballyea South near Ennistymon.
Afraid I'm not much help with your other questions.
Cheers

Re: Ballyea South Cemetery Questions
Hi Susan,
I just had a look at the 1842 map of county Clare, according to that the burial ground in Ballyea South was called Knocknakilla burial ground (If I am reading it right!)
http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclar ... gh_tab.htm
Knocknakilla is a townland in Inagh in the Tithe Applotment Books
