James McNamara court proceedings 1824

Post by Elizabeth.taylor3 » Fri Aug 15, 2014 10:12 am

Looking for information in relation to convicts court records. James McNamara was born about 1795 in County Clare and was tried and convicted of Insurrection on 27 October 1824 and was transported to Australia. It would appear his cousin Denis was also convicted of the same crime and also transported. They arrived in Australia about the convict ship Asia(4) in 1825. James was a Shepherd and Denis was a reaper and thrasher. I would appreciate any information about court records or newspaper records that may give further details of their "crime".
