Geological survey of Clare, 1863

Post by smcarberry » Mon Jun 02, 2014 5:06 pm

Another 1863 resource found randomly, with full text online at
http://www.geologicalmaps.net/IrishHist ... B02066.pdf

This is a serious study, as the list of illustrations indicates. However, room was made in a footnote, for the local lore associated with preserved footprints in a coral bed near Dungory Castle. Interesting reading for anyone with a background in geology or a need to know if a district had a commercially viable substrate.

Many thanks for flagging this source, Sharon. Part of the example you showed covers "my" Clare patch and I found it most interesting reading in connection with my amateur research on the course of the Moyrhee river (which ultimately flows into the Fergus).
