Claims on estate property, 1600s, published

Post by smcarberry » Sun Apr 27, 2014 8:13 pm

I have not seen nor heard of this type of book previously. As a Google book, this online version of it comes with a search engine, handy for retrieving all Clare entries (watch out for the Barony of Clare in Co. Galway). "S" is displayed as "f" since this is an old text.
Here is the link:

Property entries in the Dublin Registry of Deeds volumes only date back to 1712, so this seems like it will extend knowledge of land matters. The other way to research this would be to consult each set of estate papers, as held in various collections globally.

My example is the sole entry for Theobold Butler in Clare. There are additional entries for that name in counties Tipperary and Galway.

Enjoy,
