Depopulation of Clare

Hi,
I have a dissertation on the general topic of the depopulation of Clare 1851-1922, and am looking for advice Looking for a hook to hang the paper on and what sources are available.

What advice did your supervisor give ? What is "....a hook to hang the paper on..." ?

Hi Paddy,
The 'a hook to hang the paper on', means I am looking for something unique or unusual to base the paper on, around the general topic of depopulation. All ideas considered.
