margaret mcnamara from scarriff workhouse

Post by vickiofmcnamara » Mon Apr 27, 2009 4:51 am

hello all. i'm really hoping someone can give me some idea on how to progress further on finding out more about my gggrandmother, MArgaret McNamara and her family in Ireland. She was an orphan at the Scarriff workhouse and came to australia in 1850 on the 'Thomas Arbuthnot'. All I know from immigration records is that she was born about 1835 and both her parents (Michael and Mary) were deceased when she emigrated. The records say that she was from Scarriff but I'm not sure how reliable that would be. I know more information would be ideal but I don't have any more at the moment:?: Still feeling hopeful and many thanks for any info that can be given.
