Post by Paddy Casey » Sun Apr 12, 2009 3:07 pm

Thomas Collins, a ticket-of-leave man and also a farmer, residing at Six Mile Bridge was brought up in the custody of Acting-Inspector Smith, of the G Division, charged with having his licence revoked on the 21st April last under the following circumstances:- It appeared that on the 9th of July 1849 the prisoner had been transported for life at the Clare Assizes for robbery of arms, and that on the 7th of November, 1859, he got a ticket-of-leave; but it was revoked in consequence of riotous conduct at the Clare election. When arrested £72 was found in his possession. He was sent to Mountjoy Prison to complete the remainder of his term of imprisonment. (Irish Times, Wednesday, May 2, 1860).
