scariff workhouse and mcnamara orphan 1848-1850

Post by vickiofmcnamara » Sat Mar 28, 2009 6:29 am

I am hoping there are records available for orphans entering the Scariff workhouse. My GGgrandmother, margaret mcnamara, was one of the orphans from this workhouse that emigrated to NSW in 1850 as part of the Earl Grey scheme. I only have DOB as 1835 (?) and parents as Mary and Michael McNamara (both deceased when Margaret went to the workhouse). Even though the workhouse has been burned down I'm hoping that the entry records may have been preserved somewhere. Many thanks for any info that can be given. Vicki :)
