Having a very hard time tracing my Irish Family from Clare

Post by dr.jankowska » Wed Jan 09, 2013 11:50 pm

Hi, hoping someone in Clare can help

My great, great, great Grandfather, Mortimer Price was born in 1857 in Clare and came to Queensland, Australia as a free settler, possibly with an older brother, Thomas. Their father was Michael Price and his wife was Ellen O'Day or O'Dea. They may have come from Clare, I'm not sure because I can't find any trace of them. Michael and Mortimer were both farmers so it's difficult to trace them from here. Does anyone have any information at all?

Kind regards and thanks in advance for any assistance or information

Hi,
saw this post and had a quick look at what is available. The only record I found for Mortimer Price was on the LDS Family Search database, which recorded him as serving in the navy.

I've checked those out, but I can't link them to my family - the name of the mother is different, the age I'm not sure about, so it's possibly a relation but I can't be sure. I can't find any records linking Michael and Ellen Price with a son called Mortimer. There may have been another son, Thomas who emigrated as well, but I lose his trail as soon as he lands in Brisbane, Australia, it's possible he died on the way, or died soon after he arrived in Australia.

You probably already know this; from Ancestry.com.
