Corry from Clounlaheen

Hello everyone,
This is my first post on this forum. I recently got back from my second trip to the homeland, Furroor, Clare, Ireland. I have been doing family research for quite a while and have been focusing on the Corrys. Nora Eustace (nee Corry) is my great grandmother and the people listed below are her family. Nora's parents are John Corry and Ellen Whyte (from the Hand).
John's parents were James Corry and Margaret Walsh (Mountscot). Ellen's parents were John White and Bridget Connellan. Below is info I have to share and hopefully people will be able to fill in info and possibly look up records.
I have found no new information on Thomas Corry and Mary Bridget Cullinan. No birth dates, death dates, or locations. I am wondering perhaps if they are buried at Killernan but someone will have to go up there and look. I have their children as John, Margaret, and our relative, James. As for James, I have his birth in 1809 and death as 6 Apr 1889 Clounlaheen. I was able to find their marriage as 24 Feb 1846 on microfiche at the Clare Library. It states they were from Mountscot. Witnesses were Thomas Corry and Mary Walsh. I am wondering if these were the bride and groom’s siblings. I have Margaret Walsh’s birth around 1820 and death 6 Jan. 1895.
I have James and Margaret’s children as John and Phyllis, both buried together at Coore cemetery, in which we went and visited. I was able to find Phyllis in the Ireland census. I have her married to James Carmody (born 1851) in 1898. She would have been 39 years old. I am wondering if she was married before since that seems a little old to be married the first time. I have them listed as living in Knockanalban. Since she is buried with her brother and sister in law, I don’t know what happened with her marriage(s) or where James Carmody is buried. I show them not having children.
I have no info or locations for Ellen Whyte’s parents John and Bridget Connellan.
Now, for the children of John Corry and Ellen Whyte:
Patrick J. Corry was born 22 Nov 1887 (or possibly January) and died Sept 1968 in Rhode Island. He married Ellen M Looney 5 Nov. 1912 in Worcester, Mass. They lived in 51 Candace, Providence, Rhode Island. In 1935, Patrick worked as a packer in a machinery. Their children are James J. (1912-1988), Patrick Francis (1915-1991), John J. (1917-1990), Thomas Robert (1920-1984) and Helen M (1922-?) His wife Ellen died in 1953.
John was born 4 Aug 1888. You have told me he was a bus conductor in the Bronx, but I have not been able to find any records of him.
James was born 5 Feb 1890 (or possibly 10 Apr) and died July 1964. He married Anna S Leyden 14 Jun 1916 in Providence, Rhode Island. In 1935, he worked as a caretaker at a city park. Their children are James J 91917-1988), Anna Rita (1919-?), Mary Esther (1921-?), Helen L (1922-?), Kathleen M(1926-?_, and Raymond C. (1932-?)
Bridget was born 3 Oct. 1892. I have her listed in the 1911 Ireland census as being a servant at the McCarthy house, which was not very far from her childhood home. I have nothing else on her.
Margaret was born 5 Dec. 1893 and died May 1981. Her husband James Sheedy died in 1984. In 1940 they lived in the Bronx. Their children are Helen (1933-?) and James (1934-?)
Michael and David, I have no new info.
Mary was born 24 Mar 1898 and immigrated in 1914. Her and her husband, Patrick Finn lived in the Bronx in 1940. Their children are Mary Esther (1926-?) and John Patrick (1928-?)
Ellen was born 12 Apr 1899. I have no other info other than her husband William Moroney and children Kitty and Rita. I have not been able to locate where they lived.
Thomas was born 23 mar 1901. The 1940 census shows him living in the Bronx with his wife Catherine, no children. His occupation is listed as a chauffeur at an asphalt business.
I have no new info on Daniel. I am unable to locate him.
I have Kate living in the Bronx in 1940 with her husband Thomas Russell and her two children Mary Catherine (1938-) and Eileen P (1939-). Their son Thomas must have been born after 1940. Thomas (the husband) worked as a building handyman.
The only new information on Lizzie is that her husband Martin O’Connor died 29 Feb. 1936 at the age of about 33 years and is buried in the Coore graveyard. I don’t have any other information on her, her death, or the years her children were born.
Francis was born 26 Mar 1909 or the 24 Apr. he died April 1987. I believe his wife, Catherine, died in 2002. In 1940, Frank worked as a ticket agent at an elevated railway. Nora was born about 1935 and Ellen in 1936. The other children must have been born after that.
This is pretty much the information I have right now. Perhaps there is more to uncover, perhaps at the same church you obtained the marriage records of John Corry and Ellen White. Hopefully some of this information sparks some more memories and uncovers some more information. If you do remember more or uncover more information, please let me know and I’ll add it to what I have.
